A fiery meteorite? The flickering UFO plunged across the sapphire sky now speckled with faint stars. Then it flashed like a bright nova just above the far strip of rosy horizon. It wobbled in a drunken spiral, a dull red ember gyrating in the sky, growing larger & larger. Then, in a mighty thud, it smashed to earth. Hushed ashen smoke lazily rose from the desert floor of burnt orange crayon.

"Unbelievable." thought Astira. Not thinking, she turned off her orchid shield & scanned for life on the smoking UFO.

"Taran, multiple deep space Tiger ships reentering atmosphere, hypersonic vectors converging on Trader Star, first ETA 47 seconds. Please advise."

Taran broke into a cold sweat. His thoughts scrambled to a conclusion.

"Heather, rock down to hard deck. Mode. Red alert. False flag. Divert gravitic propulsion to photonic weapons- full power. Make it look real."
"Taran, first ETA 32 seconds. Prepare for hard deck. No deflectors. No gravitics- danger level ten- high acceleration hazard in 5 seconds."

Taran turned to his passengers. "Get ready. No guarantees."

I. The Canyons (Outpost 🦓)
The cortège snaked through the valley. Dim copper light cast shadows of the warriors. Astira adjusted the focus of her iSE in electronically silent Orchid mode. Cosmic minutes passed & the background of stars faded away. She could clearly see the masks- even on the leader. Why? Astira felt uncertain. There was something strange about this. There was no dust storm. Nervous small animals, reptiles & birds scurried about the rocks & sand in the alien spring. She looked for stray warriors walking the point, & then she crawled on the ground toward a nearby ledge for a better view. Behind a scrub of brush she refocused her iSE. 
Outpost Zebra- one mile higher up Ozymandias downloaded the Yugo Amaryl hologram on a silver wire extending from his finger.

II. The Venetian Worlds (🎭-> Part4 Interview)
Gondolas drifted by on waters of time. Vivienne smiled demurely.
 “Child. You say you predict the future. But you may never see it. I’ve seen it all. I laugh at all the fortune tellers of history. I carry the love child of emperors & play in the requiem of stars.”
Vivienne crinkled her eyes & brushed aside her light silver veil. She took Ivy’s hand & placed her palm like a golden spoon cupping the crystal ball. The ball pinked up like a soft warm setting sun. Royal gondolas drifted by on streets of wine. Computational irreducibility- Vivienne intruded upon the Venetian Chronicles of Time.

Joshua dove for cover behind the trash bin. The laser clawed at the bright silver metal. He pulled a pin on his tear gas grenade & threw wild. The city jungle bloomed in thick grey fog rolling in from the bay. The tiger crouched like a blind Confucius. Suddenly a girl appeared.
“I’m Agnes. Follow me.”

The bubble of light wobbled in the Emperor’s market of stars. Eons passed in complacency. Civilization slept like a baby on the edge of a corrupt volcano. Then one day for no particular reason it burst.
Astira watched in horrific fascination. Ozymandias played with his finger, his silver wire gleaming in the ruddy light of the setting sun. The Star Gate flickered in zig zags of black & white stripes. Then it continued to tell its story.

II. The Trap Door
The Dragon’s heart sank. Jamu stood silent. The sign of the Three Tigers flickered in the torchlight.

I. The Canyons

“So you pulled my soul out of the Star Gate?”
“Yes.”
Ozymandias stood by Astira. He tilted his head by 30 degrees.
Astira turned around & watched the erratic dark ripples fluctuate in space.
“The Star Gate is ancient technology from the Lotus of Civilization. It connects back in time to the exploding supernova that created a shower of black diamonds in our local cloud. But this is not a clean hyper-jump across space- like the Far Star. There exist dirty causality conditions. As you know you can’t change history. So you can’t return & then stop your twin self from entering the Star Gate.”
Ozymandias smiled. He unscrewed his finger tip & plugged a silver wire into the Star Gate.

II. Valloire 
“Paris is in turmoil. Yellow vests riot in the streets.”
The Lady of Liberty stood before the Count. Clandestine meetings were difficult to arrange in the police state of the Union Of Worlds.
“As you know, you have my full support.”
The Count bowed politely. He offered the Lady a cup of coffee on a silver tray of light snacks.
