Joshua dove for cover behind the trash bin. The laser clawed at the bright silver metal. He pulled a pin on his tear gas grenade & threw wild. The city jungle bloomed in thick grey fog rolling in from the bay. The tiger crouched like a blind Confucius. Suddenly a girl appeared.
“I’m Agnes. Follow me.”

I. The Canyons
The bubble of light wobbled in the Emperor’s market of stars. Eons passed in complacency. Civilization slept like a baby on the edge of a corrupt volcano. Then one day for no particular reason it burst.
Astira watched in horrific fascination. Ozymandias played with his finger, his silver wire gleaming in the ruddy light of the setting sun. The Star Gate flickered in zig zags of black & white stripes. Then it continued to tell its story.

II. The Trap Door
The Dragon’s heart sank. Jamu stood silent. The sign of the Three Tigers flickered in the torchlight.

I. The Canyons

“So you pulled my soul out of the Star Gate?”
“Yes.”
Ozymandias stood by Astira. He tilted his head by 30 degrees.
Astira turned around & watched the erratic dark ripples fluctuate in space.
“The Star Gate is ancient technology from the Lotus of Civilization. It connects back in time to the exploding supernova that created a shower of black diamonds in our local cloud. But this is not a clean hyper-jump across space- like the Far Star. There exist dirty causality conditions. As you know you can’t change history. So you can’t return & then stop your twin self from entering the Star Gate.”
Ozymandias smiled. He unscrewed his finger tip & plugged a silver wire into the Star Gate.

II. Valloire 
“Paris is in turmoil. Yellow vests riot in the streets.”
The Lady of Liberty stood before the Count. Clandestine meetings were difficult to arrange in the police state of the Union Of Worlds.
“As you know, you have my full support.”
The Count bowed politely. He offered the Lady a cup of coffee on a silver tray of light snacks.

I. The Silk Path
Vivienne gazed through a narrow slanted window. The towering spire pierced the leaden ruffles of clouds smothering a naked sky. Through vague mist of time she remembered her only love child bundled in a swarm of emotions, an infant lotus squirming on the warm fertile ground like a young typhoon. She knew then her fate- she must leave behind her only love & follow her light cone to another time, another place, another identity, a new beginning born in anonymity.

II. The Canyons 
Dragon leaves fall from the branch.  
“To be enlightened, one must be awake.” 
Astira check her surroundings, alert for dangers. In far distance she watch Ozymandias approach on street of silver moonlight.

I. The Canyons
Astira glance at FarRunner her bio-data. Psychotic episode it last for ten minutes only. Her mental stress zoomed way asymptotic- beyond visible range in holograph, only now damp in finite envelope. Her breathing settle down as she desperately look around for that one Ozymandias. Steep slope of Zebra rock trail off into dark, meeting bright clustery plane of galaxy at horizon. She could hear human humming of warm desert wind, winding around walls of canyons, reverberating over & over, long lost ancient surf roaring on an ocean beach. ♾

II. Valloire 
“The crystal ball probes the cosmic network- the whole network including the connections beyond the cones of light. Your mind is part of the great cosmic network- what you see depends on your state of mind.” 
Ivy almost smiled as her hand passed over the warm milky crystal.
“Sometimes people only see what they want to see- like Rorschach inkblots. As you know- if you see something real from another place & time that puts causality of our universe in danger- then you will forget once you return to normal. This is what I was taught from the masters on the Venetian worlds.”
“Intriguing.” said the Count. He watched a small image of a floating zebra bloom in the clouds. 🔮

Darkness seeped in from the edge. The light of day funneled down to a shining bubble bright as the sun. Stunned- Astira reached toward a finger of striped rock. The quantum finger stretched out from the hand of Ozymandias sinking in the bubble. She felt a spark from the positronic quantum computer. Then the bubble of daylight began to expand. The rim of the black hole retreated to the edge of her consciousness. She leaned upon the Zebra of ancient rock to catch her breath- anxious- watching the alien sun pick up its pace diving to the remote edge of the canyons.

Ivy rode above the clouds on a white stallion. Her breasts heaved as she panted from the thin mountain air.
