The tempeste of night swirled in dark chains of clouds. Edmond fell
upon the hard rocks of the shoreline, & in his delirious exhaustion
the rocks became but velvet cushions fit for a king. And then he fell
into a deep unconscious sleep....
Edmond heard the faint chirping of birds & he opened his eyes to the
morning light. His simple but elegant room lay open to the streets of
Paris via a modest balcony. As he rose the nightmares evanesced and
the day beckoned.
