James T. Kreamer walked through the hideous ruins of Trantor. Gigantic
shards of metal reached to the low cloudcover roiling in the night
sky. Centuries late, Kreamer still felt the extravagant violence of an
Empire's final spasm of death. Yet, much like a beautiful but
poisonous bloom, the extravagant dream of Old Empire taunted his
imaginative brain with regal visions of a galactic high society. Yet
again, he knew the future lay not in the monstrosity of the past, but
in the still misunderstood Foundation, a pristine diamond on the edge
of the galaxy. This new star would lead galactic civilization "back to
even" in a mere one thousand years.
