Search For The Second Foundation
1. Mood For A Day- Yes
2. Something's Always Wrong- Toad The Wet Sprocket
UFOtext=
Beta poured over her history notes floating conveniently in the air. If the stories of the Second
Foundation were true, then any new crisis for the First Foundation
would be solved according to plan- according to a plan from 300 years
ago. But were any Second Foundation planners alive today, & if so,
where were they hiding?

Free From The Crowd

Terminus lay at the edge of the Milky Way galaxy. Here the visable
stars numbered few & shown like rare bright diamonds set in the canopy
of deep intergalactic night. In the waves of psychohistory the new colony
was born at the social peak of a small wave 2 countertrend inside a
larger wave A social decline which ultimately would destroy the
galactic empire. These waves were smaller parts of a galactic
supercycle wave 2 social decline that would see 30,000 years of
barbaric chaos spread throughout the galaxy. That is, if the gigantic
& endogenous social inertia of the galactic supercycle wave were left
to it's own devices. But the psychohistorically conceived placement of
the First Foundation on Terminus sowed a subtle & exogenous seed of
freedom........
The garden path shown in a faint silver light beneath the
intergalactic night. A black silhouette seemed to float upon the faint
silver path as if a mysterious spirit. It was right here where Beta
could free her mind of distraction & think in deep clear streams of
thought. Here the psychology of the crowd gave way to the individual light of
reason much as the Diamonds slowly rose in the eastern sky. Here she
could breathe free & liberate her heart.

"Bayta said in Toran's ear, "Why doesn't he talk about the Mule? The
Traders never revolted."
Toran shrugged his shoulders."

& Empire by Isaac Asimov, who dedicated the novel to his father

Second Foundation spies on Terminus provided the First Speaker with
continual updates on people & events that might affect the powerful
flow of psychohistory. From a distance of 50,000 light years & a breathtaking 10 degrees of trend within a psychohistorical model, it was
clear to the First Speaker that a young Foundation girl named Bayta,
or Beta as he called her, would have no significant impact on galactic
history. She would remain an ugly duckling in the irrelevant small degree
backwaters of galactic psychohistory.
